Hi.

Welcome to my blog.

Glossier. A Review.

Glossier. A Review.

If you're reading this, chances are you already know about Glossier (pronounced "glossy-A")- the skincare and makeup range created by Into The Gloss founder, Emily Weiss.  Someone at work recently asked me if I had tried any of the products, and once I was done telling her about my faves, I realized - I have a lot.  Their tagline is "skincare as makeup".  That's so up my street, that's the name of my street.

First up, the soothing face mist.  This is a total luxury product, without the luxury price.  You don't need it.  But, it's worth picking up.  It's an incredibly light spray with a very fine mist, perfect for a refresher during the afternoon or for layering underneath moisturizer.  (I once read that your skin gets the most from your moisturizer when you apply it to damp skin.  Enter, facial sprays.)  I also liked using this after applying my makeup, just to help everything mesh together.  It does smell like roses, which the granny in me loves.

Speaking of moisturizers, my skin loved the priming moisturizer.  The site claims this acts like a primer, cutting one step out of your makeup routine.  I prefer pore minimizing primers, so I ended up using a primer with this underneath as my morning moisturizer.  It's very lightweight, but it kept my skin soft and hydrated throughout the day.  Highly recommend.

On my second order, I added the Mega Greens Galaxy Pack.  This is a detoxifying face mask that's also really cooling and really lightweight, which is a nice change from my normal clay masks.  It's green, with chunks in it, and smells really... healthy.  Parsley, spinach, bitter orange peel, avocado oil, aloe, acai... they all make this mask a superfood treat for your face.  This mask is great for oily skin, or for those of us that pay special attention to our pore-holes.

Once the makeup landed, I was all aboard.  I made quick purchases of the boy browgeneration g, and the perfecting skin tint.  If you're a fan of RMS beauty, or no-makeup looks, you'll enjoy the Glossier makeup range.  I'm a sucker for the olive skinned, freckled brunettes with juicy jam lips, but I'm self-aware, and know that's not going to impress my co-workers.

The boy brow has a huge cult following.  But I'm not in love.  I couldn't find a great color match, and already love my Loreal Brow Artist Plumper, so this got handed off to my sister pretty quickly.

I ordered generation g lip color in Cake- a lovely terracotta shade (#MLBB).  This is a wonderful stain that goes on matte, but doesn't flake off and fade weird.  The site says the inspiration was popsicle stained lips- and I'd say that's exactly what they achieved.  I put it on once or twice before lunch, and let it fade as the afternoon goes on.  As with any matte lip product, it is not the most hydrating, but wearing some balm over the top does the trick.  I love this and will definitely be going back for more... I've got my eyes on Jam next.

If you're on that no-makeup-makeup train, you'll love the perfecting skin tint.  It's in their skincare category for a reason- it offers very little pigmentation, but offers great glow and leaves your skin looking and feeling hydrated all day.  It's perfect for under your foundation, or for a quick evening out of skin tone.  It won't hide blemishes, but at the same time, is the perfect thing to wear when your skin is enflamed, but you just can't make it out of the house without a little something on.  I also like mixing this in with foundations that are either too thick for the summertime, or too light.  If you're a fan of the Daniel Sandler watercolor range, you'll be into this.  (Maybe they'll do a blush version next...)

If you've made it this far in the post, you deserve an award!  Here's my bottom line: if you've been wondering, it's worth an order.  If all else fails, I guarantee you'll be impressed by their packaging.  With each order, you get a pink bubble wrap zippy bag and a sheet of funky stickers you can use to decorate your new top shelf products.  (I've been tempted to place an order just for these...)  Let me know what Glossier products are your favorites below!
