Hi.

Welcome to my blog.

The mask that really works

The mask that really works

Have you ever used a face mask?  To me, they're one of the most relaxing things.  Maybe it's the fact that they're either sticky, slimy, clumpy, or will crack and flake off if you move your cheeks, but when I need a treat, I slap on a mask and lay still.  I've used them all- sheets, clays, DIY, overnighters.  They're all my faves.  Here's the one I used tonight.

Warning: This mask is not for n00bs.  In fact, if you have never used a face mask, and decide to give this a try, you might not ever return to the world of skincare as a hobby.  But if you're anything like me, and want to feel your products working, you'll freak.

Kate Somerville is one of the most trusted names in skincare.  Not only is her packaging *on point*, but girl can make an effective product without any nasties.  Her products are all made in America, are cruelty free, and made with natural but powerful ingredients.  Plus, if Jessica Alba, Paris Hilton, Sandra Oh, and Debra Messing trust her with their largest organ, so will I.

Enter ExfoliKate.  One of her most well known products.  It's designed to give your pores a deep clean while also clarifying and exfoliating your skin for a serious glow.  You won't believe how soft your skin can get!

This mask packs quite the punch.  You apply a thin layer on damp skin, and leave on for only a couple of minutes.  It's bright green and gritty, and doesn't dry down.  If you have sensitive skin, I'd leave on for only a minute.  You'll immediately feel your face sting, maybe even pulsate, but it won't hurt!  I like to leave mine on for around 3 minutes, and then rinse off with my hands.  Follow up with your favorite moisturizer and you'll catch yourself entering into a 5 minute facial massage routine.  The only thing I've found that gets my skin as smooth as this is a microdermabrasion treatment.

It's kinda pricey, but if you've got texture issues, or are in search of something a bit more powerful to add to your stash, give this a go.  Oh, and if you're more on the sensitive side, she's got a gentler version too :)
